titleOfInvention Production of polyarylene sulfide
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a polyarylene sulfide having low melt fluidity and high molecular weight, by reacting a dihalogenated aromatic compound with an alkali metal sulfide in the presence of a dihalogenated aromatic compound containing active hydrogen atom. n CONSTITUTION: (A) A dihalogenated aromatic compound (e.g. p-dichlorobenzene) is made to react with (B) an alkali metal sulfide (e.g. lithium sulfide, sodium sulfide, etc.) in the presence of (C) a dihalogenated aromatic compound containing an active hydrogen atom and represented by formula I [X is fluorine, etc.; Y is -NHR (R is alkyl, etc.), etc.; n is 1W4], etc., (e.g. dichloroaniline) in (D) a polar solvent (e.g. N-alkyl lactam). The molar ratios A/B is 0.75W2.0 and D/B is 1W1.5 and the amount of C is 0.005W2mol% based on A. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
