abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain 2-acetylresorcin useful as an intermediate for producing drugs, agricultural chemicals, etc., readily, in high yield and industrially advantageously, by dehydrogenating 2-acetyl-1,3-cyclohexanedione as a raw material under a specific condition. n CONSTITUTION: 2-Acetyl-1,3-cyclohexanedione easily obtainable from 1,3- cyclohexanedione is dehydrogenated in a reaction medium such as diphenyl ether, p-cymene, etc., in the presence of a palladium catalyst such as Pd/C, etc., preferably supported on a carrier such as active carbon, silica, etc., preferably in a N 2 gas atmosphere under heating at 140W260°C at normal pressureW20 atm. After the reaction is over, the catalyst is filtered off, the mother liquor is cooled and the crystal is precipitated and separated, to recover the aimed compound. After removel of the aimed compound, the mother liquid can be reused as a solvent containing the unreacted raw material for the dehydrogenation. 2-Ethylresorcin prepared as a by-product can be selectively removed into a layer layer by washing the mother liquor with water after crystal separation. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio |
