titleOfInvention Optical wavelength conversion element
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain short wavelength light with high efficiency by using the cumulative films of a polymerized compd. formed by accumulating the Langmuir-Blodgett films consisting of a specific amphiphatic conjugate diacetylene compd. on a substrate as an optical waveguide. n CONSTITUTION: This optical wavelength conversion element has the cumulative films of the polydiacetylene compd. formed by accumulating the Langmuir- Blodgett films of the amphiphatic conjugate diacetylene compd. expressed by the formula on the substrate having the refractive index lower than the refractive index of the polymer of the conjugate diacetylene compd. and polymerizing the same as the optical waveguide. The thickness of the cumulative films 0.5W2.0μm and the thickness of one layer can be easily determined for each of the compds. The number of the layers is adequately controlled to obtain the thickness as the optical wavelength conversion element of good efficiency, by which the optimum film thickness is easily obtd. The element is thus made resistant to optical damage and the short wavelength laser light in a 300W400nm range is efficiently obtd. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
