PURPOSE: To obtain a rubber-like polymer of a low metal content, by heating a specified polymer latex in the presence of a nonionic surfactant and a metal- free electrolyte. n CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. monomer (A) comprising 1W20wt% monomer containing at least one functional group selected from among epoxy, hydroxyl, carboxyl, amino and alkyl ester group, 10W50wt% acrylonitrile (b) and 30W80wt% butadiene and/or isoprene (c) is emulsion-polymerized in the presence of an ionic surfactant (B) (e.g., potassium oleate) as an emulsifier to obtain a polymer latex (C). Component C is heated to 40W150°C in the presence of nonionic surfactant (D) of a cloud point of 20W110°C (e.g., fatty acid monoglyceride) in an amount (1W15pts.wt.) to provide a B/D weight ratio of 0.01W2.0 and 5W20pts.wt. metal-free electrolyte (E) [e.g., (NH 4 ) 2 SO 4 ] to coagulate the rubber-like polymer. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio |
