titleOfInvention Breeding of bilge assimilating microorganism
abstract PURPOSE: To breed microorganisms capable of assimilating bilge even under environment of high salt concentration, by assmilating oil by microorganisms present in seawater. n CONSTITUTION: An organic material, e.g. glucose, sodium acetate or methanol, is added to seawater to multiply microorganism present in the above-mentioned seawater under aerobic conditions. An oil, e.g. emulsified n-paraffin, olive oil or heavy oil, is added thereto after or during the multiplication to cultivate the microorganisms under aerobic conditions. After enhancing the oil decomposing activity of the above-mentioned microorganisms, bilgs is brought into contact with the microorganisms to preferably increase the bilge concentration stepwise. Thereby, the aimed halotolerant microorganisms capable of decomposing the bilge oil are bred. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
