PURPOSE: To obtain the titled composition resistant to gelation, discoloration and the lowering of gas-barrier property, by compounding specific amounts of an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, a carbonyl-containing thermoplastic resin, a specific stabilizer and an antioxidant. n CONSTITUTION: The objective composition can be produced by compounding (A) 1W90(wt)% ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer containing 30W80mol% vinyl alcohol unit, (B) 5W98% thermoplastic resin containing carbonyl group selected from carboxylic acid (salt, anhydride, amide and ester) on the main chain or side chain at a concentration of 5W1,000mm-equivalent/100g of resin, (C) 0.01W3% one or more stabilizers selected from alkaline earth metal hydroxide, oxide, silicate, etc. (e.g. a combination of magnesium hydroxide and a higher fatty acid magnesium salt at a weight ratio of 1:10W10:1) and (D) 0.01W3% antioxidant.
