abstract | PURPOSE:A dentifrice composition for preventing dental caries, containing hydroxyapatite immobilizing dextranase therein, having improved safety, capable of preventing decomposition and inactivation of the dextranase during product storage and stable even to other compounding ingredients. CONSTITUTION:A dentifrice composition, obtained by incorporating dextranase with lysozyme and hydroxyapatite powder, adding potassium phosphate buffer solution at 6.8 pH in 0.05 mol concentration to the mixture, slowly dropping an aqueous solution of glutaraldehyde thereto at 4 deg.C while stirring, further stirring the resultant mixture at 4 deg.C for 5 hr, collecting the reaction product, washing the product with the above-mentioned buffer solution there times to remove the unreacted material, freeze-drying the residual material and containing the hydroxyapatite in which the dextranase is immobilized. EFFECT:The decomposition of the dextranase caused by various factors, e.g. pH, in the oral cavity on using the product is prevented and the effect of the dextranase can be maintained for a relatively long period at the same time. |
