abstract PURPOSE:To realize long-livedness of a fuel cell unit and improve its reliability, by adopting a cooling method by which laminated cells are put into a pool of liquid dielectric. CONSTITUTION:A pressure container 2 is filled with liquid dielectric such as per-fluoro-carbon. And, laminated fuel cells 3 are put into the pool, and a separator 9 or the like is provided with small holes through which per-fluoro-carbon can flow and penetrate, with a boiling phenomenon occurring by heating the per-fluoro-carbon therein used as a cooling means. Hence, electrodes and electrolyte 7 can be cooled with effect, and prevention of fall in its reliability, caused by thermal stress, and deterioration in its property, caused by local by thermal stress, and deterioration in its property, caused by local overheating can be realized. Therefore, long-livedness and reliability can be improved.
