abstract | PURPOSE: To provide a resin compsn. having excellent flame retardance and moldability and good physical properties, by adding a flame retarder and a specified flame-retardant aid to a mixture of a thermoplastic polyester and a polycarbonate. n CONSTITUTION: A flame-retardant resin compsn. is obtd. by adding a flame retarder (A) composed of an org. halogen compd. (e.g., a brominated polystyrene) and a flame-retardant aid (B) composed of an Sb compd. obtd. by heat-treating a compd. of the formula (wherein X is 0.1W0.8; Y is 0.25W4.0) at 100°C or higher to a mixture of a thermoplastic polyester (C) (e.g., polyethylene terephthalate) and a polycarbonate (D) (e.g., bisphenol A). The use of the flame retarder (A) together with Sb 2 O 3 as a flame-retardant aid to impart flame retardance has a disadvantage that it causes foaming.
