abstract | PURPOSE: An antiarteriosclerotic agent, containing 2-aminomethyl-4-tert-butyl-6- propionylphenol or a nontoxic acid addition salt thereof as an active constituent and capable of powerfully preventing the evolution of arteriosclerotic lesion with very low toxicity. n CONSTITUTION: An antiarteriosclerotic agent containing 2-aminomethyl-4-tert- btyl-6-propionylphenol expressed by the formula or a nontoxic acid addition salt thereof, preferably hydrochloride as an active constituent. The above- mentioned compound and nontoxic salt thereof are novel type of arteriosclerotic agent having a mode of action of scarcely affecting the cholesterol value in blood and entirely different from that of the conventional antiarteriosclerotic agent having reduction of cholesterol as main action.
