titleOfInvention Production of optically active alpha-hydroxy acid
abstract PURPOSE: To produce the titled substance easily, by treating DL- or L-α-hydroxy acid amide with an enzyme produced by Enterobacter or Pseudomonas genus microorganism and having L-α-hydroxy acid amide hydrolyzing activity. n CONSTITUTION: A microbial strain belonging to Enterobacter genus or Pseudomonas genus such as Enterobacter cloacae N-7901 (FERM BP-873) or Pseudomonas sp.N-7131 (FERM BP-874) is cultured aerobically in a conventional medium to obtain a culture liquid, separated bacterial cell or treated bacterial cell, etc., having L-α-hydroxy acid amide hydrolyzing activity. The DL- or L-α-hydroxy acid amide of formula is made to react with the above bacterial cell, culture liquid, treated cell, etc., to obtain L-α-hydroxy acid. The accumulated L-α-hydroxy acid is separated and purified e.g. by ion exchange treatment. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
