titleOfInvention Polymerization of vinyl monomer
abstract PURPOSE: To polymerize a water-(in)soluble monomer in good efficiency in a manner in which handling of radicals is easy, by contacting a solvent containing radicals of a specified organic compound with a polymerizable vinyl monomer. n CONSTITUTION: The plasma discharge of an ionizing gas of an organic compound which can easily generate radical species (e.g., methyl acetate) is effected by application of an electric power of 5W200W for several sec to several tens of min in a vacuum of 0.001W20Torr to generate radicals of the organic compound. A solvent (e.g., methyl isobutyrate) is introduced into the system to obtain a solvent (A) containing radicals of the organic compound. Component A is contacted with a polymerizable vinyl monomer (B) [e.g., methyl (meth) acrylate] for several to several hundreds of hr. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
