abstract | PURPOSE: To develop magnetic metallic powder having excellent stability and dispersibility by depositing a specific compd. on the surface of the magnetic metallic powder to be used for a magnetic recording medium. n CONSTITUTION: The layer of the compd. expressed by general formula (1) is deposited on the surface of the powder of Fe, Ni, Co, Fe-Ni-Co alloy, etc. as the magnetic metallic powder to be used for the magnetic recording medium such as magnetic tape, magnetic sheet or magnetic disk. The above-mentioned magnetic metallic powder is immersed into a soln. of a compsn. consisting of ≥50wt% org. solvent such as cyclohexanone, methanol, ethanol or acetone and the balance the above-mentioned compd. and is agittated for 1W10hr. After the excess org. solvent is filtered off, the powder is dried so that 0.1W6pts.wt. above-mentioned compd. by 200pts.wt. magnetic metallic powder is deposited on said powder.
