titleOfInvention | Production of polyester |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester suitable for fibers, films, etc., having improved transparency and color tone, by polymerizing a composition comprising bis(β- hydroxythyl)terephthalate (low polymer) as a main component by adding a specific polycondensation catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: (A) Terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol are directly esterified or subjected to ester exchange reaction to give bis(β-hyroxyethyl)terephthalate and/or its low polymer, (B) a compound shown by the formula I (n is 0 or 1) is added to the reaction system in such a way that the formulas T≥-1.7S 1 +5.5, T≤-3.3S 1 +14.7, T≥3 and S 1 ≤0.3 are satisfied when T is polymerization time and S 1 is an added amount (mol/mol acid component) or (ii) a compound showh by the formula II is added to the reaction system in such a way that the formation T≥-5.5S 2 +5.5, T≤-6.7S 2 +14.7, T≥3 and S 2 ≥0.09 are satisfied when S 2 is an added amount and polymerization is carried out, to give the aimed polyester having ≥0.6 intrinsic viscosity. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio |
