titleOfInvention Purification of brominated diphenyl ether
abstract PURPOSE: To purify the titled substance by pulverizing decabromodiphenyl ether or diphenyl ethers containing the same to powder having an average particle diameter smaller than a specific level, slurrying the powder in water and heating at or above a specific temperature. n CONSTITUTION: Decabromodiphenyl ether or diphenyl ethers containing the same is pulverized to powder having an average particle diameter of ≤10μm, slurried in water and heat-treated at ≥120°C (preferably 130W200°C) for 1W10hr to obtain the title substance in purified state. An allyl alcohol compound and/or a reducing agent (e.g. sulfurous acid, thiosulfuric acid, hydrazine, etc.) is added to the reaction system in the heat-treatment as an agent to convert the isolated molecular bromine immediately to a non-corrosive compound. n USE: An addition-type flame-retardant for synthetic resin. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
