titleOfInvention Optically active allyl alcohol compound
abstract NEW MATERIAL:The optically active allyl alcohol compound of formula I (A is benzyl or lower alkyl; Bn is benzyl; the steric configuration of both ends of the double bond is trans). n EXAMPLE: (R)-(E)-1-benzyloxy-4-(4-benzyloxyphenyl)-3-buten-2-ol. n USE: Intermediate for organic compounds and optically active medicinal drugs such as optically active (+)-rateiffin (an alkaloid in a crude drug components useful as a poultice or tonic). n PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by treating the compound of formula II (Ph is phenyl) with n-butyllithium in THF solvent, adding 4-alkoxybenzyl chloride to the reaction system, extracting the resultant compound of formula III by solvent extraction, dissolving the compound in an aromatic solvent and heating in the presence of calcium carbonate. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
