titleOfInvention | Production of alpha-methylstyrene copolymer |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a copolymer having improved degradability and compatibility and suitable for ceramic binders, etc., by previously adding an organoaluminum compound to α-methylstyrene and an unsaturated carboxylic acid, adding an organolithium compound or organosodium compound thereto and carrying out anionic polymerization thereof. n CONSTITUTION: α-Methylstyrene and an unsaturated carboxylic acid and/or a derivative thereof, e.g. acrylic acid or alkyl methacrylate, are polymerized using 0.01W30wt%, based on the α-methylstyrene, unsaturated carboxylic acid (derivative thereof) by the anionic polymerization method. In the process, an organoaluminum compound, e.g. trialkylaluminum, in a molar amount of normally 1/3 or more based on the sum of groups containing active hydrogen atom in the unsaturated carboxylic acid (derivative thereof) is previously added thereto, and an organolithium or organosodium compound in an amount or normally 0.1W1wt% based on the α-methylstyrene is added to carry out copolymerization. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio |
