titleOfInvention Production of fluorophenol
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material for medicines, agricultural chemicals or photochemistry-related compounds in good yield without using expensive phosphoric acid raw material, by diazotizing a fluoroaniline in sulfuric acid and decomposing the resulting diazo compound in copper sulfate. n CONSTITUTION: One mol fluorophenol expressed by formula I (F is linked to the benzene nucleus at the 2- or 4-position) is reacted with an equivalent or small excess amount, based on the fluoroaniline expressed by formula I, diazotizing agent, e.g. aqueous solution of NaNO 2 , in a molar amount of equimolar W 4 times, based on the fluoroaniline expressed by formula I, sulfuric acid or aqueous solution thereof, and the resultant diazonium salt is added to ≥10wt% aqueous solution of copper sulfate at 40W200°C, preferably 60W160°C. The decomposition of the resultant diazo compound is carried out while removing a fluorophenol, expressed by formula II and formed simultaneously with the addition from the reaction system by the distillation, steam distillation, two-phase system methods, etc., to afford the aimed fluorophenol expressed by formula II. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
