abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a refrigerator oil which is excellent in lubricity, heat stability, and flon resistance and does not attack a metal, by adding a particular fatty acid diglycidyl ester to a polyhydric alcohol ester or a mixture of a polyhydric alcohol with a mineral oil or a synthetic oil. CONSTITUTION:0.05-10wt% 8-18% straight-chain or branched satd. fatty acid or 14-18C straight-chain unsatd. fatty acid diglycidyl ester (e.g., 2- ethylhexanoic acid glycidyl ester) is added to a polyhydric alcohol ester, such as an ester of a polyhydric alcohol (e.g., neopentyl glycol) with a monocarboxylic acid, or a mixture of the polyhydric alcohol ester with a naphthenic or paraffinic mineral oil or a polyether, alkylbenzene or polyolefin synthetic oil.
