titleOfInvention | Magnetic recording and reproducing device with rotary head system |
abstract | PURPOSE: To display the running time of tape during the high-speed research of a pre-recorded tape without a control track by counting the number of times that the output of the envelope- detecting of the reproduction output signal from a head exceeds a prescribed reference value with time intervals of the same length as the time during which a cylinder rotates K/2(K being a natural number) times, and applying arithmetic operation to the value of said counting. n CONSTITUTION: A signal generated by detecting the envelope by an envelope detecting circuit 7 is compared with the reference value 20 by a comparator 8, in case it exceeds the reference value 20, it is converted to a pulse string of 5V, but to a pulse string of zero V in case below the reference value 20, and the pulses are counted by the first counter 10 as the number of times (m). Based on the specific relation between the number of times (m) that the envelope detection output signal exceeds the prescribed reference value during the time during which the cylinder rotates K/2(K; natural number) times and the number of tracks (n) that the had passes during the same time, a certain arithmetic operation is applied to the (m) to obtain the (n). And thus obtained values of the (n) are successively added up to obtain the total number N of tracks passed by the head since the start of tape running. Since the pass time per one track in normal recording time the product of the already-known is time necessary to pass one track in the normal recording/reproducing and the said total number N of tracks passed comes to be the running time of tape. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio |
