titleOfInvention Production of polyester
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester which can give a film of excellent surface properties, by polycondensing a transesterification product of a specified lower- alkyl dicarboxylate with a dihydroxy compound. n CONSTITUTION: A product is obtained by transesterifying a lower-alkyl dicarboxylate (e.g., dimethyl 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate) of an acid value ≤0.1, preferably, ≤0.08, and the number of particles (of a max. length ≤4μ)≥30,000 particles/g, preferably, 20,000W500 particles/g with a dihydroxy compound (e.g., ethylene glycol) of the number of particles (of a max. length ≥4μ)≤2,500 particles/g, preferably, 1,500W200 particles/g. This product is polycondensed at a temperature higher than its m.p. in a vacuum or a stream of an inert gas until the intrinsic viscosity reaches 0.45W0.75. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
