abstract PURPOSE:To enhance photosensitivity characteristics and to reduce variation of the difference between potentials in the light and in the dark caused by repeated uses in electrification and exposure steps by incorporating a specified low molecular weight organic compound in a photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer contains one of the compounds represented by formula I in which each of R1-R4 is an optionally substituted alkyl, aralkyl, aryl, or heterocyclic group, or each of the group of R1 and R2 and the group of R3 and R4 may form a 5- or 6-membered ring together with the N atom, and each is independent of each other, and R5 is H or an optionally substituted alkyl, aralkyl, aryl, or heterocyclic group. The compound is typified by formula I-1.
