abstract | PURPOSE: To improve magnetic characteristics and electromagnetic conversion characteristic by having a magnetic layer contg. an org. comp of a specific mol.wt. and having -CH=CHOOH and benzene ring in one molecule and magnetic power. n CONSTITUTION: The org. compd. of 130W328mol.wt. having -CH=CHOOH and benzene ring in one molecule is used as the dispersant for the magnetic powder. A cinnamic acid deriv. is adequately used as the org. compd. of 130W238mol.wt. having -CH=CHCOOH and benzene ring in one molecule. Said cinnamic acid and cinnamic acid deriv. have both conjugated double bond in the molecule, are relatively xmall in the mol.wt., deposit well on the surface of the magnetic power and have good affinity to the binder resin. The dispersibility in the binder resin of the magnetic powder is thoroughly improved and the surface smoothness of the magnetic layer is improved if such cinnamic acid or cinnamic acid deriv. is incorporated into the magnetic layer.
