titleOfInvention Production of perfluoropropionic acid fluoride
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material for fluororesins and fluororubbers in high yield, by decomposing trimer, tertramer or a higher polymer of hexafluoropropene epoxide in the presence of active carbon catalyst while heating at a specific temperature. n CONSTITUTION: Trimer, tertramer or a higher polymer of hexafluoropropene epoxide, formed as a by-product in producing 2-(heptafluoropropoxy)propionyl fluoride useful for producing perfluorovinyl ether from the hexafluoropropene epoxide and having hardly expected use thereof is decomposed in the presence of active carbon catalyst at 180W400°C, particularly 280W340°C temperature to afford the aimed perfluoropropionyl fluoride. A compound expressed by formula I (n is 1 or 2) is particularly preferred. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
