titleOfInvention Production of s-(4-alkylsulfonyloxyphenyl)-n-alkylthiocarbamate
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a germicide inexpensively in high yield and in high quality, by reacting a reaction product of a monothiohydroquinone and an alkyl isocyanate with an alkanesulfonyl chloride. n CONSTITUTION: A monothiohydrohydroquinone shown by the formula I (X is H, Cl or methyl) is reacted with an alkyl isocyanate shown by the formula II (R 1 is lower alkyl) in a solvent preferably in the presence of a basic catalyst to give an S-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-N-alkylthiocarbamate shown by the formula III and then this compound is reacted with an alkanesulfonyl chloride shown by the formula IV (R 2 is lower alkyl) to give an S-(4-alkylsulfonyloxyphenyl)-N- alkylthiocarbomate shown by the formula V. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
