abstract PURPOSE: To provide a black pigment which has high safety and excellent dispersibility and is suitable for use in cosmetics and whose aq. dispersion is weakly acidic, consisting of a specified black titanium oxynitride powder. n CONSTITUTION: TiO 2 is heated in an ammonia gas atmosphere at 500W950°C to reduce it. The reduced product is washed with an aq. soln. of 3% hydrochloric acid, then with water and dried to obtain a black pigment composed of a black titanium oxynitride powder which has a lead content of not higher than 20ppm and a 10% aq. dispersion of which has a pH of 5W7. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
