abstract | NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R 1 is trialkylsilylethynyl and R 2 is H or R 1 is acyl and R 2 is OH; R 3 is lower alkyl). n EXAMPLE: cis-9-Acetyl-5-methyl-7, 9, 11, 12-tetrahydroxy-8,9,10,11-tetrahydronaph tho[2,3-b]-carbazole-6,13-dione. n USE: A carcinostatic agent. n PREPARATION: A compound expressed by formula II is reacted with a compound expressed by formula III (A is lower alkylene) to give a ketal compound, which is then reacted with a halogenating agent together with a radical-forming reagent and then subjected to hydroxyl substitution reaction to afford a dihydroxycyclohexaneketal compound having OH group introduced into the 11-position.
