titleOfInvention | Production of crosslinked polymer latex |
abstract | PURPOSE: To readily obtain latex having forming performance of coating film having improved water resistance, transparency, gloss and solvent resistance, by subjecting an ethylenic unsaturated monomer and a reactive functional group- containing monomer to emulsion polymerization in the presence of a betaine type emulsifying agent. n CONSTITUTION: An ethylenic unsaturated monomer (e.g. acrylic acid ester, etc.) and a reactive functional group-containing unsaturated monomer (e.g. glycidyl acrylate, allylamine, etc.) are usually used in a weight ratio of 99/1W85/15 and subjected to emulsion polymerization in the presence of (preferably 0.5W8wt%) a betaine type emulsifying agent [e.g. compounds shown by formulas IWV (C m H 2m+2-p-q is polyhydric alcohol residue; R 1 is 8W30C alkyl or alkenyl; R 2 is 2W4C alkylene; R 3 is 1W5C alkylene; R 4 WR 6 are 1W3C alkyl, etc.; R 7 and R 8 are 6W20C alkyl or H; R 9 is 1W20C alkyl or H; R 10 and R 11 are 6W30C alkyl, etc.; a=0W20; b=0W30; c=1W30; m=8W20; p=2W5; q=0W3; X is anion; Y is group shown by formula VI)]. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio |
