abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the tiled compound useful as an antibiotic substance or its synthetic intermediate on an industrial scale at a low cost, by reacting a hydroxymethyl-cephem-carboxylic acid with a saturated fatty acid anhydride in an aqueous solvent in the presence of an acid-absorbing base and a specific compound. n CONSTITUTION: The objective compound can be produced by reacting (A) a 3-hydroxy-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid [preferably the compound of formula (M is H or salt-forming group), e.g. 7-(D-5-carboxy-5-phthalimidovaleramido)-3- hydroxymethyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid ditriethylamine salt, etc.] with (B) a saturated fatty acid anhydride (e.g. acetic anhydride) in an aqueous solvent in the presence of (C) an acid-absorbing base (e.g. triethylamine) and a 4-(t- amino)pyridine [e.g. 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine] preferably at -20W+20°C for 0.5W1.5hr. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio |
