titleOfInvention Production of polyamide
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a polyamide of a narrow MW distribution, by polymerizing a specified polymerizable lactam in the presence of a silicate, an alkali catalyst and an activator. n CONSTITUTION: A polyamide/silicate composite is obtained by anionically polymerizing 100pts.wt. polymerizable lactam (A) of the formula [wherein n is 6W12, R is H, a 1W8C alkyl or a (substituted) aralkyl] (e.g., caprolactam) at 80W300°C for 1minW5hr in the presence of 0.01W100pts.wt. silicate (B) (e.g., montmorillonite), desirably, swollen with an organic substance (e.g., hexamethylenediamine hydrochloride), 0.01W10mol%, based on component A, alkali catalyst (C) (e.g., NaH) and 0.01W5mol%, based on component A, activator (e.g., N-acetylcaprolactam). This composite is dissolved in a solvent (e.g., m-cresol), and the silicate is removed to obtain a polyamide. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
