titleOfInvention Production of copolyester
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled copolymer, having a high elastic modulus and high strength, capable of forming a liquid crystal, readily moldable and useful for molding materials, etc. n CONSTITUTION: (A) 5W95mol% oligoester or polyester having repeating units expressed by formula I (R 1 is 6W20C bifunctional aromatic hydrocarbon, 1W4C bifunctional aliphatic hydrocarbon, etc.; R 2 is 2W40C bifunctional aliphatic hydrocarbon, polyalkylene oxide bifunctional radical having 80W8,000 molecular weight, etc.) is reacted with (B) 95W5mol% hydroxycarboxylic acid expressed by formula II (R 3 is 6W20C bifunctional aromatic hydrocarbon, etc.) to give a copolymerized oligomer containing ≤7mol% content of R 2 in linked units expressed by formula III. The resultant copolymerized oligomer is then acrylated at 60W190°C and then polymerized under reduced pressure to afford the aimed copolyester. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
