abstract PURPOSE:To obtain an ink jet recording paper excellent in clearness, water resistance and light resistance of recorded images, by providing a polymer salt of a diallylamine a polymer salt of a monoallylamine, a copolymer salt of a diallylamine with a salt of a monoallylamine and partially neutralized products of the polymers of the copolymer on the surface of a paper. CONSTITUTION:An ink jet recording paper is produced by providing a polymer of a salt of a diallylamine, a polymer salt of a monoallylamine, a copolymer salt of a diallylamine with a salt of monoallylamine and partially neutralized (deoxidized) products of the polymers or the copolymer on the surface of a paper, whereby water resistance and light fastness of images recorded by using a water base ink are enhanced. In the case of the partially neutralized (deoxidized) product, the degree of deoxidization is preferably 2-70mol% based on the total amount of amino groups. The amount of the polyamines provided on the surface of the ink jet recording paper is preferably 0.1-4g/m<2>.
