abstract NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula {C is group of formula II-IV [R<2> is H, 1-5C alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, etc.; R<3> is H, 1-4C alkyl, halogen, 1-4C alkoxy, etc.; R<4> is H, di(lower alkyl)imino, (substituted) 1-5C alkyl, etc.], etc.; R<1> is 1-4C alkyl or 3-6C cycloalkyl; R and R<1> may together form a ring of (substituted) 5-6C cycloalkyl} or its optical isomer. EXAMPLE:The compound of formula V. USE:Herbicide. PREPARATION:The objective compound can be produced either by cyclizing the caboxylic acid amide derivative of formula VI in an aqueous solution of an alkali(ne earth) metal hydroxide or cyclizing in an inert solvent in the presence of phosphorus oxychloride, phosphorus pentoxide and hydrogenated alkali(ne earth) metal or cyclizing with a dehydration reagent such as dicyclohexyl carbodiimide.
