abstract PURPOSE: To impart excellent water repellency to a material and to enable a coating film having excellent adhesion, wear resistance, etc., to be formed, by coating or impregnating a material with a compsn. contg. a specified aq. organosilicon resin having a quaternary ammonium salt group. n CONSTITUTION: The surface of a material is treated with an organosilicon resin compsn. consisting of an aq. organosilicon resin (A) having a quaternary ammonium salt group obtd. by reacting a tertiary amine with a condensate of an organosilicon compd. of formula I and/or its low condensate with an organosilicon compd. of formula II and/or its low condensate and an org. solvent and/or water (B). In the formulas, R 1 is a 1W12C hydrocarbon group; R 2 is a 1W8C hydrocarbon group; a is a number of 0.1W2; R 3 is H or methyl; and R 4 is a 1W8C alkylene.
