abstract NEW MATERIAL:An optically active 4-cyclopentenone expressed by formula I (R' is H or acyl; R is alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl, provided that the substituent group R at the 2-position and the substituent group OR' at the 3-position are cis configuration). n EXAMPLE: l-s-Allyl-3-hydroxy-4-cyclopentenone. n USE: Useful as an intermediate for agricultural chemicals, perfumes or medicines. For example, l-2-substituted-3-hydroxy-4-cyclopentenones expressed by formula I (R' is H) are rearranged in a steric state to afford 2-substituted-4-hydroxy-2- cyclopentenones, useful as an important intermediate for prostaglandin derivatives and having R(t) configuration. n PREPARATION: A compound expressed by formula II (R" is acyl) is reacted with esterase produced by a microorganism and asymmetrically hydrolyzed to provide the aimed compound expressed by formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
