| abstract | PURPOSE: To form a magnetic recording medium with which a lubricating effect is maintained for a long period of time and which obviates the deterioration of durability by successively laminating an under coat layer contg. a lubricating agent and back coat layer contg. an inorg. pigment on the surface on the side opposite from a thin ferromagnetic metallic film. n CONSTITUTION: This recording medium is constituted by providing the thin ferromagnetic metallic film 2 as a magnetic layer on a nonmagnetic base 1. The stock for the nonmagnetic base 1 is exemplified by polyesters such as PE terephthalate. The under coat layer 3 contg. the lubricating agent and the under coat layer 4 contg. the inorg. pigment are successively laminated on the surface on the side opposite from the surface on which the thin ferromagnetic metallic film 2 is formed. Known lubricating agents such as, for example, fatty acid, are usable as the lubricating agent to be used for the under coat layer 3.
