abstract PURPOSE: To form a magnetic recording medium with which a lubricating effect is maintained for a long period of time and which obviates the deterioration of durability by successively laminating an under coat layer contg. a lubricating agent and back coat layer contg. an inorg. pigment on the surface on the side opposite from a thin ferromagnetic metallic film. n CONSTITUTION: This recording medium is constituted by providing the thin ferromagnetic metallic film 2 as a magnetic layer on a nonmagnetic base 1. The stock for the nonmagnetic base 1 is exemplified by polyesters such as PE terephthalate. The under coat layer 3 contg. the lubricating agent and the under coat layer 4 contg. the inorg. pigment are successively laminated on the surface on the side opposite from the surface on which the thin ferromagnetic metallic film 2 is formed. Known lubricating agents such as, for example, fatty acid, are usable as the lubricating agent to be used for the under coat layer 3. The lubricating agent to transferred and supplied onto the surface of the thin ferromagnetic metallic film 2 via the under coat layer 4 in the stage of winding the tape. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
