titleOfInvention Production of chloromethyl thiocyanate
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for fungicide, miticide, etc., in high yield and purity, by reacting bromochloromethane with a thiocyanate in a system comprising a water-soluble alcohol and water. n CONSTITUTION: The objective compound can be produced by reacting bromochloromethane with a thiocyanate (e.g. one or more thiocyanate salts selected from alkali metal salt, alkaline earth metal salt and ammonium salt) in a solvent composed of an aqueous solution of a water-soluble alcohol having a boiling point of 70W90°C (e.g. ethanol, isopropanol, etc.). The amount of the alcohol in the solvent is 1W3pts.wt. per 1pt. of the thiocyanate and the content of water in the solvent is 5W60wt%. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
