abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled polymer excelling in rigidity and impact strength and undergoing neither agglomeration nor adhesion, by polymerizing propylene or a propylele/ethylene mixture in the presence of a specified catalyst and further polymerizing a propylene/ethylene mixture. n CONSTITUTION: A solid catalyst component (a) is obtained by contacting a solid component containing Ti, Mg and a halogen with a silicon compound of the formula (wherein R 1 is a branched hydrocarbon residue, R 2 is R 1 or another hydrocarbon group, R 3 is a hydrocarbon residue and 1≤n≤3) at -50W200°C. Propylene or a propylene/ethylene mixture of an ethylene content ≤5wt% is polymerized in one stage or multiple stages at 30W90°C and a pressure of 1W40kg/cm 2 in the presence of a catalyst comprising component (a) and an organoaluminum compound (b) in an amount to provide a weight ratio of (b) to (c) of 0.1W1,000 to form 60W95wt%, based on the total weight, polymer and a propylene/ethylene mixture of an ethylene content of 20W100wt% is polymerized in one stage or multiple stages at 30W90°C and a pressure of 1W40kg/cm 2 . n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
