abstract NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [R1 is alkyl, aryl or heteroaryl; R2 is H, halogen, OH, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, CF3, CN, COOH, alkoxycarbonyl, acyloxy or dialkylamino; R3 is H, alkyl, cyloalkyl, alkenyl, hydroxyalkyl, aryl, aralkyl in which the alkyl moiety mey be substituted by OH, acyloxy or oxo, etc.; n is 1 or 2; the (hetero)aryl of R2 and R3 may be aubstituted by R2 except H] and salt thereof. EXAMPLE:3-( 4-Fluorophenyl )-2-( 4-methyl-2-piperazinyl )-5H-1-benzazepine.dihy drochloride. USE:A central nervous system depressant, e.g. remedy for schizophrenia, antiepileptic agnet, etc. PREPARATION:A novel substance expressed by formula II (X is halogen) is reacted with a compound expressed by formula III to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
