abstract PURPOSE:To provide a recording material excellent in light fastness, by containing 1,1-bis(p-amino substituted phenyl) alkene represented by a specific formula as a color forming dye. CONSTITUTION:A compound represented by specific formula [I] forms a blue - green color upon the contact with an electron acceptive substance. In the formula [I], R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> are respectively dependently a 1-6C alkyl group, a 5-6-membered ring cycloalkyl group or an arylalkyl group and R<5> and R<6> are respectively independently a hydrogen atom, a 1-10C alkyl group, a 5-6- membered ring cycloalkyl group, an aryl group or arylalkyl group capable of containing a substituent. Therefore, solution containing said compound can be used in pressure-sensitive paper of fine quality, for example, in an encapsulated state. If this compound is finely ground to be formed into an aqueous dispersion along with a fine powder of a coupler such as bisphenols or p- hydroxybenzoate and said dispersion is applied to a sheet article such as paper or a film and dried, thermal recording paper can be obtained.
