abstract | PURPOSE: To provide the titled copolyester constituted by each specific structural units, capable of melt forming, having optical anisotropy and excellent mechanical properties such as high modulus, suitable for films, fibers, etc. n CONSTITUTION: The objective copolyester with a melt viscosity 10W15,000 poises and melting point ≤400°C, can be obtained by polycondensation in the presence of catalyst (e.g., tetrabutyl titanate) between (A) p-acetoxy benzoic acid, etc., a structural unit giving a component of formula I, (B) t-butyl hydroquinone, etc., a second structural unit giving a second component of formula II (R is of formula III, etc.) and (C) chlorohydroquinone, etc., a third structural unit giving a third component of formula IV (R' is of formula V, etc.).
