| abstract | PURPOSE: An agent, containing D-cistenolic acid as an active ingredient, capable of exhibiting inhibitory action on blood platelet agglutination, useful for treating and preventing thrombosis and having high safety. n CONSTITUTION: A remedy and preventive agent for thrombosis, containing D-cistenolic acid as an active ingredient. It is demonstrated that blood platelet plays an important role in formation of thrombi and directly participates in the establishment and development of atherosclerosis as a basic disease of thrombosis and it is established that a blood platelet agglutination inhibitor is used as an antithrombotic agent. An antipyretic agent, analgesic agent, anti- inflammatory agent, etc., e.g. aspirin, etc., have been used as the blood platelet agglutination inhibitor, but side effect thereof is frequently strong. The above- mentioned D-cistenolic acid is a component extracted from an extract of fishes and shellfishes, etc., has improved inhibitory action on blood platelet agglutination and high safety and is suitable for use in a long period. Thereby the agent is useful for treating extremital arterial thrombosis, deep venous thrombosis, etc., preventing atherosclerosis, thrombogenesis in artificial dialysis, replacement by artificial heart valves, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio |
