titleOfInvention Red lake pigment
abstract PURPOSE: To provide the titled pigment for printing ink, which gives very clear prints, does not cause bronzing and has excellent dispersibility, by treating a pigment with a specified N-(3-alkoxy-2-hydroxypropyl)trialkyl ammonium salt. n CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. red lake pigment such as a naphthol azo lake pigment having a naphthol skeleton, e.g., β-naphthol, β-hydroxynaphthoic acid (anilide), etc., is dispersed in water to obtain a suspension. 0.1W30pts.wt. N-(3-alkoxy-2- hydroxypropyl)trialkylammonium salt of the formula (wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are each a 1W20C alkyl; and X is halogen or sulfonic, acetic or formic acid group) is added to the suspension and the mixture is stirred at 0W100°C to obtain the titled pigment. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
