abstract PURPOSE: To improve selectively of supercritical gas and concentration limit of extract in supercritical extraction, by carrying out the extraction in the presence of an extraction assistant having relative affinity to non-extracted component. n CONSTITUTION: Constituent components of a mixture of plural organic compounds or of a organic compound and water (preferably a mixture of components having small boiling point difference or a mixture of water and an organic compound forming azeotropic mixture with water) are separated from each other by extracting with a supercritical gas. The extraction is carried out in the presence of ≥40wt%, especially 60W80wt% extraction assistant (based on the sum of the mixture to be separated and the extraction assistant) having relative affinity to non-extracted component. The assistant is e.g. a polyhydric alcohol, sugar, etc., for an aqueous mixture. The extractant used in the form of supercritical gas is e.g. an inorganic compound such as carbon dioxide, ammonia, etc., or a lower hydrocarbon such as paraffinic hydrocarbon, olefinic hydrocarbon, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
