abstract PURPOSE: An antifouling material, obtained by blending a thermoplastic resin with graphite or tar, having strength property and no toxicity, capable of preventing occurrence of attachment of algae and shellfishes by the antifouling property of the graphite or tar and suitable for net cages or fixed nets for fish raising. n CONSTITUTION: An antifouling material obtained by blending, e.g. a thermoplastic resin such as a resin, capable of holding graphite or tar, having strength and adapted to monofilaments, films, coatings, etc., for example polyethylene, polypropylene, etc., with graphite (about 0.5W15wt%) or tar, kneading the resultant blend while heating at 200W220°C in an extruder to produce pellets of given shape, further kneading and extruding the pellets while heating, cooling the extrudate, reheating and drawing the cooled extrudate at 90W100°C to produce monofilaments and knitting into nets to produce net cages for fish raising, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
