titleOfInvention Novel production of 4-acetylisoquinoline compound
abstract PURPOSE: To economically obtain the titled compound, having cardiotonic action and useful as an anticardiac failure remedy with little side effect in a short process, by condensing 2-acetyl-4-pyridylcyclohexanone with acetamide as starting raw materials. n CONSTITUTION: 2-Acetyl-4-pyridylcyclohexanone is condensed with acetamide in the presence of a base, e.g. ammonia, methylamine, 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]-7- undecene, etc., in a suitable solvent, preferably water, methanol, ethanol, etc., at a reaction temperature of a low temperature W the boiling point of the solvent used, preferably as low a temperature as possible to affored the aimed compound. If a secondary amine is used as the solvent, the amount of formed by-products is smaller than in other solvents even at a high temperature. If recrystallization is carried out in a solvent, e.g. methanol, etc., a compound, expressed by the formula and formed as a by-product can be readily removed. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
