titleOfInvention Titanium dioxide pigment
abstract PURPOSE: To enable a coating film having excellent weather resistance, gloss, luster, etc. to be formed, by using titanium dioxide having a specified particle size and a specified coat as a pigment to be blended with a topcoating compsn. for automobile and for use in a rotating atomization type electrostatic coating method. n CONSTITUTION: This titanium dioxide pigment is a pigment to be blended with a topcoating compsn. for automobile and for use in a rotating atomization type electrostatic coating method and has the following particle size and coat. Namely, (1) it has an average particle size of 0.23 to 0.27μ and such a particle size distribution that the amount of particles having a particle size of not smaller than 0.35μ in the particle size distribution by the spontaneous settling method is not more than 50wt% and (2) the surface thereof is coated with (i) 0.1W5% (in terms of ZrO 2 ) zirconium oxide or hydroxide, (ii) 0.2W6% (in terms of metal oxide) oxide or hydroxide of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of titanium, magnesium, silicon, tin and antimony and (iii) 0.1W8% (in terms of Al 2 O 3 ) aluminum oxide or hydroxide, each based on the weight of titanium dioxide particle. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
