titleOfInvention Manufacture of fluorescent lamp
abstract PURPOSE: To enhance the strength of adhesion of a fluorescent substance layer and a glass tube and the light emission efficiency of a fluorescent lamp, by suspending a powder of a fluorescent substance, a nitrate of an alkaline earth metal and minute grains of aluminum oxide in an aqueous solution of a water- soluble binder when the binder is a polyethylene oxide, and by applying the suspension to the inside surface of the glass tube and drying the suspension to make the fluorescent substance layer. n CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution of a polyethylene oxide as a water-soluble binder is prepared. Calcium halophosphate is added as a fluorescent substance (for white light) to the aqueous solution. Minute grains of aluminum oxide, barium nitrate as an alkaline earth metal nitrate, boron oxide and strontium chloride as an alkaline earth metal chloride are added each in prescribed quantity to the aqueous solution. The mixture is then subjected to ball mill processing to make a fluorescent substance suspension. The suspension is applied to a coating film of aluminum oxide on the inside surface of a glass tube and dried to make a fluorescent substance layer. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
