titleOfInvention Liposome containing hemoglobin
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled liposome active to prevent oxidation of hemoglobin and useful as an artificial erythrocyte, by including an aqueous solution of hemoglobin containing vitamin C in a liposome having vitamin E-containing membrane composed of a lipid. n CONSTITUTION: The objective hemoglobin-containing liposome is produced by including an aqueous solution of hemoglobin in a liposome having membrane composed of a lipid, wherein said membrane contains vitamin E and said hemoglobin solution contains vitamin C. Oxidation of hemoglobin in said liposome can be prevented by the vitamin C existing in the aqueous solution of hemoglobin and oxidation of the membrane is prevented by the vitamin E present in the membrane wall of liposome. Accordingly, there is no lowering of oxygen- transfer capability. The amount of vitamin E is 0.5W4.5mol% of total lipid and that of vitamin C is 2W10mol per 1mol of hemoglobin. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
