titleOfInvention | Production of 3-cyano-5-pyrazolone compound |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a photographic material, in high yield, by dehydrating an easily available 5-blocked 3-carbamoyl-5- pyrazolone compound as a raw material, and removing the blocking group from the product. n CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula IV can be produced by (1) dehydrating the 5-blocked 3-carbamoyl-5-pyrazolone compound of formula II (R 2 is organic group other than H, e.g. alkyl, aryl, heterocyclic group, trimethylsilyl, acyl, etc.) in a solvent such as dimethylformamide in the presence of a dehydration agent such as phosphorus oxychloride, and (2) reacting the resultant compound of formula III in the presence of a strong base or strong nucleophilic reagent such as KOH, thereby easily removing the blocking group without giving influence to cyano group. The starting pyrazolone compound is produced easily e.g. by reacting the compound of formula I (R 1 is H, alkyl, aryl or heterocyclic group) with an acylation agent in the presence of a base in a proper solvent. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio |
